The program of the library was designed to provide occupants with a balance between individual focused spaces and socially focused spaces. The individual spaces intended for reading and research in the relative quiet and privacy of small, more intimate spaces. While the social spaces were designed to provide an environment where groups of people could collaborate, or provide opportunities for social interaction between neighbors. Both types of spaces were arranged so that, while separate, they intersect and mix together at specific moments within the project. Allowing for serendipitous discoveries of material, or spontaneous interactions between individuals.
